This year, for the first time, the list introduced a new Cross-Field category to identify researchers with substantial influence across several fields during the last decade. The bioinformatician Thomas Rattei is one of the about 2,000 researchers who entered the list in this new category. In Austria, 40 researchers in total are included in the Highly Cited Researcher list.
