COMPETITIVE BUT SENSITIVE: TOOL BENCHMARKING IN METAGENOMICS

The Critical Assessment of Metagenome Interpretation (CAMI) competition has been featured in a recent Nature Methods technology article.

CAMI was launched by Alice McHardy from the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research, Alexander Sczyrba at the University of Bielefeld and Thomas Rattei at the University of Vienna. Preliminary work prior to CAMI has been performed by Dmitrij Turaev from the CUBE team. He has developed concepts for the independent testing of metagenomics methods, which are also used by the CAMI team. The results of the first CAMI competition are currently analyzed and will be published later this year.
